About Ride for a Reason

The Palmer Family
Jeff, Brooke, Dick & Jo Palmer

The reason for the ride began when Brooke (Palmer) Distad and Jeff Palmer found out their mother, Jo Palmer, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought it for over two years before losing her battle with cancer in March 2002. One year later they found out that their father, Dick Palmer, had AML (acute myelogenous leukemia). After a seven month battle he passed away in January of 2004.

Both Dick & Jo were very active in the community and they loved to ride. Jeff and Brooke wanted to do something to honor them and the lives that they led and at the same time help find a cure for a disease that affects so many.

All proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society* at the Dodge County Cancer Stroll in August.

*The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

"We would like to thank our family and friends for all their help in making Ride for a Reason a reality and a wonderful fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. We love you and appreciate you all."
